The Clinical Technician provides safe, efficient, and therapeutic effective patient care as scheduled.
The technician performs monitoring and reporting of cardiac rhythm patterns and changes.
Performs electrocardiographs (EKGs).
Monitors and manages ambulance reports.
Job Specifications:
Responsible for the provision of patient care services
Ensures daily living activities are performed as scheduled and documented
Performs technical skills per standards as assigned/ delegated
Promptly responds to call lights as appropriate
Follows safety rules in all areas of patient care and ensures a safe patient environment
Maintains supplies and equipment for assigned area
Monitors, identifies, and reports cardiac rhythm patterns and changes
Observes scope for normal and abnormal EKG patterns for all monitored patients as assigned
Provide accurate and timely cardiac rhythm information to the appropriate health care provider
Notifies appropriate RN immediately of any change and/or irregularity in the patient's EKG pattern
Recognizes and documents EKG rhythm every four hours while on telemetry and as needed
Collaborates with Biomedical Engineering to ensure cardiac monitoring equipment is in proper working order
Manages ambulance reports and communicates incoming patient assignments
Receives and documents ambulance reports on incoming patients
Communicates pre-arrival patient report to appropriate health care team member
Documents and reserves appropriate treatment rooms for incoming patients
Manages and activates teams as instructed by provider
Communicates patient and family health care needs to the appropriate health care provider
Reports significant events and information timely to appropriate team member
Assists with planning by sharing input from patient and family with appropriate team members
Answers telephone appropriately and timely delivering information to appropriate team members
Required Qualifications:
Education: High School or GED
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Vocational/Technical Diploma
Licensure: Current Certified Nursing Assistant or EMT
Experience: One (1) year as a multi-skilled technician, nursing assistant, or similar role: or nursing student second semester clinical experience is accepted in lieu of work experience.
Two (2) years as a clinical or multi-skilled technician, nursing assistant, patient care assistant, EMT, Corpsman, or similar role.
Previous experience as a monitor technician in a healthcare setting
