Overview:
To teach, supervise and ensure a nurturing environment for Pre-K children.
Also, to support the child-care program in providing quality care that will be safe, affirming, enjoyable and enriching to children.
Description:
Substitute and assist the primary teacher with planning and implementing of curriculum activities.
Assist with planning and setting up indoor and outdoor environment.
Assist with classroom record keeping
Responsible for the supervision and daily class functions of a group of children, creating a warm, loving and nurturing environment encouraging them to learn, develop and advance
Ensures constant focus on the well-being, health and safety of children
Assists the primary teacher in to carry out activities on a daily basis and evaluates the effectiveness of child development activities
Cleans and sanitizes equipment and toys on a daily basis in accordance with hygiene procedures and participates in the maintenance and necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, playgrounds and common use areas
Maintains an attractive, fun, clean, interactive, and orderly classroom that encourages children to create, play, learn and explore
Assists in the implementation of weekly activities that promote a healthy lifestyle
Assists and conducts daily health checks on each child, performs ongoing developmental evaluations of children, develops action plans and documents as needed
Follows policies and procedures regarding medical and dental emergencies, short-term exclusion of children
Maintains ongoing, open communication with parents formally and informally regarding their child’s developmental progress, needs and interests
Cultivates positive relationships with children, families, parents, staff, state licensing authorities and volunteers
Contributes to the effective operation of the overall In The Zone programs
Attends all required staff meetings, workshops and/or functions
Complies with all rules, regulations, procedures and protocols of In The Zone and the MSDH regulatory agency pertaining to the health, safety, emergency procedures and care of children
Maintains overall professional personal appearance
Other duties as required or requested by immediate supervisor, Director of Administrative Services and/or the Director of Operations.
Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age and bondable
High School diploma or GED is required
One year of instructional experience in a licensed childcare facility is required
Ability to adapt to the center's needs and hour
Current child/adult CPR and First Aid certification or willing to obtain
Reliable Transportation to and from work
Must be eligible and pass MSDH Background Check
Physical Requirements:
Walking, Squatting, Climbing, Hearing, Standing for periods longer than one hour, Pushing (50 lbs.
), Lifting (50 lbs.
), Sitting, Pulling (50 lbs.
), Speech, and Vision
Must be able to lift and move In The Zone equipment properly as need arise.
Must be physically able to participate in high-energy activities with students.
