This posting is for our Summer Camp temporary employment.
BGCGC summer camp dates are June 3rd through July 26th.
THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION FOR SUMMER 2024.
*Position Summary:* Under direct supervision, plan, implement, conduct and evaluate activities provided in specific program area(s), such as Drama Matters, Lyricism 101, Media Making and MusicMakers programs, usually within a designated Unit.
*Essential Responsibilities: * * Compile resources, information, and data, to address current and future trends in the arts * Facilitate the Drama Matters, Media Making and other programs * Prepare for and have youth participate in artistic competitions such as ImageMakers and National Fine Arts Exhibit.
* Develop and implement diverse opportunities/activities that provide access to local artistic professionals under each artistic category: fine arts, digital arts, performing arts, applied arts.
* Culminate arts experiences in community events, products and experiences; recognize members’ work and showcase in a variety of ways around the Club.
* Participate in community arts events.
* Develop meaningful relationships with youth to help discover their interests and advance them through their arts experience (foundational, skill building, portfolio development).
* Identify potential relationships with art schools, museums, community organizations, agencies, and resources in or around the community that can support our arts program with Unit Director.
* In partnership with Workforce Readiness, take participating members on field trips where they can learn about artistic career paths and see skills they’ve learned in action.
* Create a calendar of artistic programs and events for the year.
* Develop opportunities to involve Club parents/guardians, community leaders and others from the local community in the arts program.
* Work with colleagues to integrate the arts into other programs.
* Maintain all art related spaces, materials and equipment.
*Additional Responsibilities*: * May be assigned special projects and other duties periodically by Supervisor * May participate in special programs and/or events * May be required to drive Club bus/van if CDL has been obtained * Part‐time employees are required to attend a certain amount of training (Boys & Girls Clubs of the Gulf Coast management will determine dates and times) * Review and respond to e‐mails, voicemails and other forms of communication within one business day *Essential Skills & Experience:* * Associate’s degree in related field from an accredited college or university preferred, or equivalent experience * Minimum of one year experience in youth development *Knowledge of teen development * * Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems * Ability to deal with the general public * Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment * Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications * Valid State Driver License *Valued Skills & Experience: * * Bachelor’s degree in related field * Two or more years’ experience * Previous experience working with children in a classroom, preschool, or childcare setting * Knowledge of various art forms and techniques, including drawing, painting, sewing, and sculpture *Required Competencies: * * Problem solving – identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully and maintain confidentiality * Interpersonal skills – maintain confidentiality, remain open to others’ ideas and exhibit a willingness to try new things * Oral communications – speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations and demonstrate group presentation skills * Written communications – edit work for spelling and grammar, present numerical data effectively and able to read and interpret written information * Planning/organizing – prioritize and plan work activities and use time efficiently * Quality control – demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and monitor own work to ensure quality * Adaptability – adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and able to deal with frequent changes, delays or unexpected events * Dependability – consistently at work and on time, follow instructions, respond to management direction and solicit feedback to improve performance *Relationships: * Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructors; instruct; and advise/counsel External: Maintain contact with other Clubs, vendors, consultants, organizations, government agencies and others to achieve program goals and objectives, manage costs, share information, and resolve problems.

Employee must occasionally visit other Boys & Girls Clubs of the Gulf Coast Clubs.
* Work environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually low.
When Club is in session, the noise level may be moderate to loud.
Job Type: Part-time Pay: $10.
