Job Summary Under the supervision of the Chair of Counselor Education and Coordinator of Psychology for Tradition Campus and the Dean of the School of Natural and Behavioral Sciences with input from the Chair of the Department of Psychology and Counseling and the Vice President of Tradition Campus, the successful candidate will provide instruction in courses within the area of Counselor Education and Psychology.
The candidate will have teaching, student advisory, and student recruitment responsibilities as needed by the department as well as the opportunity to direct student research.

Duties of the Faculty member within the Department of Counselor Education and the Department of Psychology and Counseling for Tradition include: Assists the University in implementing its Mission Statement.
Perform the responsibilities of a faculty member in the departments by developing engaging course content within assigned courses, delivering effective classroom instruction, and providing timely feedback to students.
Facilitate student matriculation by conducting regular advisement sessions with assigned advisees, providing registration support, delivering career guidance as appropriate, and recommending appropriate disciplinary action when necessary.
Develop, maintain, publish, and adhere to course syllabi that are consistent with the policies of the University, the SNBS, and the departments.
Utilize the approved University online learning management system to publish all assigned courses including syllabi, grading rubrics, other course materials, assignment grades, and course grades.
Maintain a minimum of ten office hours each week that are accessible for students and prospective students.
Participate in the development, execution, and evaluation of a comprehensive student recruitment plan for the department.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of an integrated assessment program for the department with the purposes of promoting student learning, program development, and accreditation compliance.
Support the creation and maintenance of SACSCOC institutional effectiveness models for the department and participate in the annual review of the models.
Assist with the annual review of the department curriculum and provide recommendations to the Chair of any necessary revisions.
Maintain knowledge, skills, and expertise in primary teaching area by participating in ongoing professional development and engaging in the University annual faculty evaluation process.
Develop and maintain basic proficiency in utilizing computer and other technology software programs that are essential to performing job responsibilities.
Serve on departmental, school, and university committees as assigned.
General: Exhibit an optimistic attitude and service-oriented interpersonal style.
Attend scheduled university events where participation is required.
Perform other responsibilities as requested by the Chair, Dean, or Vice President.
Conduct professional and private life in such a way that is harmonious with representing the ideals and standards of a Christian university.
Execute other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting, and to use standard office equipment including a computer.
Must have vision to read printed materials and a computer screen as well as hearing and speech to effectively communicate in person and over the telephone.
Must have the ability to lift and carry 25 pounds.

Qualified to hold faculty rank within a teaching area of the departments.
Possess academic experience teaching college and graduate level courses in Counselor Education, Psychology, School Counseling, and/or School Psychometry.
Possess expertise with Microsoft Office Suite products and desire and ability to learn course management software/distant learning technologies Skills and Abilities: Must have excellent verbal, written and communication skills.
Must have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Must possess leadership skills and abilities.
Must have the ability to work independently, complete multiple assignments, meet deadlines, exercise good judgment, demonstrate tactfulness and discretion and maintain confidentiality.
Must have the ability to solve problems effectively.

Preferred Qualifications Possess five years of experience in teaching and research in a college/university setting.
Hold a doctorate in Counselor Education.
Hold licensure or have the ability to obtain licensure.
Experience in more than one of the above listed disciplines.
Experience in course development and curriculum integration.
