*POSITION SUMMARY.
*This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, the Child Watch Attendant will be responsible for caring for children, ensuring safety, constant surveillance at all times.
*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:* 1.
Actively supervises and participates in activities with all children.
2.
Greets parents; be informed of each child’s needs.
3.
Always use gentle firmness and kind voice when dealing with problem situations.
4.
Provide direction of the expectations in the area to the children and their parents.
5.
Respects confidentiality when discussing issues concerning children.
6.
Upholds all YMCA policies, procedures, standards and code of conduct.
7.
Treats all children and parents with dignity and respect 8.
Maintain a neat, clean and organized Child Watch area.
9.
Communicates all suggestions, hazards, incidents and feedback to the Director.
10.
Attend any pertinent YMCA trainings.
11.
Maintain updated files and documents related to the Child Watch area, e.
g.
attendance, incident reports, payment.
12.
Performs other duties as assigned.

*QUALIFICATIONS:* 1.
CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 60 days of hire date.
2.
Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
3.
Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
4.
Must be flexible in hours to maintain quality programs *WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:* · The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
